Lesson 2 • Governance
Use Case Intake: Deciding What’s Allowed
Before adopting any AI use case, you need a simple intake process that records what the tool does, what data it touches, and who is responsible.
Key concepts
- Create an intake form for every AI use case.
- Classify data sensitivity (public, internal, sensitive).
- Define a human owner for outcomes and incidents.
Practice Exercise
Choose one AI use case you want. Fill in: purpose, users, data types, outputs, and who approves.
Template (copy/paste)
ROLE: You are my governance assistant. TASK: Create an AI Use Case Intake Form. OUTPUT: 12 fields + example filled out for 'grant drafting'. CONSTRAINTS: Include data minimization and retention notes.
Governance note: policies should be enforceable, reviewed regularly, and owned by accountable roles—not “everyone.”
